Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Rafael Morel, also known as LightningBits. I’m a Full Stack .NET Developer with 3 years of experience designing and deploying SaaS products across healthcare, eCommerce, and productivity. I specialize in .NET Core, Blazor, Tailwind CSS, SQL, and AI-powered automation with OpenAI integrations.
My work includes building SearchMed, an AI-enhanced healthcare platform; The Healing Tea Company, a high-performance eCommerce site; and Jesus Talks With Me, a content platform with AI publishing tools. I also developed BlogCart, a Blazor-based multi-tenant eCommerce CMS.
My technical skills span C#, .NET Core, Blazor, ASP.NET APIs, Tailwind CSS, SQL Server, Azure DevOps pipelines, and CI/CD. I also implement secure authentication with Microsoft Identity, real-time data with SignalR, and AI automation with OpenAI.

Front End
I build modern, responsive interfaces using Blazor, Tailwind CSS, and HTML5, with additional experience in React and Angular when projects require them. My focus is on creating intuitive UX/UI that delivers consistent performance across devices and platforms.
I specialize in Progressive Web Apps (PWAs), delivering native-like experiences that can be deployed across the web, iOS, and Android. This approach allows me to create scalable applications that work seamlessly on multiple devices while maintaining a single codebase.

Back End
On the backend, I design and implement secure, high-performing APIs with ASP.NET Core, Microsoft Identity for authentication, JWT for stateless security, and SignalR for real-time communication. I manage data storage and optimization with SQL Server, SQLite, and MySQL.
I also leverage Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and have experience integrating OpenAI APIs to add AI-driven automation and smart workflows into applications.

Before tech, I worked as a union ironworker in New York City, helping build and renovate some of the world’s most iconic structures. When the pandemic shut down construction, I took the opportunity to return to my early passion for coding (dating back to my Commodore 64 days). With my infant son on my shoulder, I taught myself modern software development — eventually founding LightningBits LLC and delivering real-world applications used by clients today.
Today, I combine hands-on problem-solving, AI integration, and modern DevOps practices to create scalable, user-friendly applications.
